Apr 30, Sat 9:30am-12:30pm…Steve Veatch’s Exploring Paleontology: The Ice Age – The Colorado Ice Age fossils discovered at Snowmass and the mammoth at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument will provide the backdrop for this class. Participants will get a glimpse into the exotic Ice Age realm and at the fantastic creatures that ruled the land like the mammoths, mastodons, giant bison, sloths and camels. This seminar will lead you to a better understanding of the Ice Age and climate change. Everyone gets a certificate of completion, and a resource CD to take home. Class is from 9:30am-12:30pm. Pre-registration is required. Call Deb at 719-686-1820 x104. Class fee is $20.00 plus museum admission of $11.50 per person. Students are required to bring a pen, notebook and clip board.

May 21, Sat 11:00am-3:00pm…USAF Academy…Physics is Phun…the ‘Physics is Phun’ show illustrates the mysterious side of forces at work in our world. The unique behavior of rotating objects is both felt and seen by audience members, and the effects of extreme heat and cold on everyday objects are put to the test. Always a shocking experience, we also see electricity at play and observe its tangled relationship with magnetism. The audience is always welcome to investigate the demonstrations in detail and meet with members of the Air Force Academy afterward.”

The Synergists will be demonstrating their robots and Great Ball Contraption at the Dinosaur Resource Center, during this fun filled interactive event. In addition, YoungBotBuilders will be providing interactive LEGO spin Art for visitors to have fun with. You will also be able to find out about classes and LEGO camps at this event.

This is a great opportunity to learn about trains, find out about some Colorado history and PLAY!! You are not going to want to miss this adventure.

Aug 20, Sat 11:00am-3:00pm…Planetarium from the Challenger Learning Center… Come see the “Night Sky” in our Portable Planetarium. Kids and adults can enjoy a live show centered on the stars and celestial objects that they see from their own backyard! Learn about the legends behind the constellations and know how to identify them. Locate planets in our solar system, and explore beyond our galaxy. All planetarium shows are presented by a trained Challenger Colorado educator.

Sept 24, Sat 11:00am-3:00pm…Play Well Lego Event…Power up your engineering skills with PLAY-Well TEKnologies and thousands of LEGO’s at the Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park. Apply real-world concepts in physics and engineering to design and build your own motorized car! Students will learn about gear transmissions and how to power their cars for torque and speed to complete challenges! Ages 5-16. Presentations are at 11:00am and 1:30pm. It is suggested that you come for the beginning of the presentations so that the instructors are better able to help you build your creations. (Please note: Students DO NOT get to keep the LEGO creations).
Oct 29, Sat 1:30pm-3:00pm…Halloween Cool Science Style…Come and make glow in the dark slime, instant worms, invisible alien eyeballs, eerie fog bubbles, creepy noises, shoot fog rings and more!! Get your costume, camera and imagination ready, and come prepared for a very interactive Halloween happening. Treat bags will be given to all children. There will be a parade through the museum at 2:30pm and prizes given out for the Scariest, the Funniest, the Most Creative, and the Best Dinosaur Costume.
